Art Post Uki’s next exhibition opens on Thursday 25th October and features the expressionist work of Michael Willard, titled “Self Evolution”.

Michael’s exhibition of self portraits seeks to achieve a deep emotional honesty and can be viewed as both challenging and beautiful. His work is engaging on a deeply reflective level and is extraordinarily straightforward in its raw examination of aspects of his psyche in paint.

“Portraiture and the figure have engaged me for as long as I can remember, says Michael, and over time this has progressed to a struggle to tease out something more, to scratch below the surface, or maybe to seek something more essential or emotional.”

Despite the urge to use this style with others, MichaeI finds himself returning to his own image time and again and in doing so allows himself the freedom to work in a manner that might prove difficult in portraying another person. This exhibition is the result of his very personal evolution and self-examination.

Michael studied Art in Sydney where he was also involved in a range of Solo and Group Exhibitions, and he became a resident of Uki three years ago after many years living and working in Sydney and in France. He has a career working in community care, but through his love of art, he has become a valued, respected and integral member of the local art community.

Michael’s Exhibition SELF EVOLUTION will be on display for six weeks until 6th December 2018.

Art Post Uki is committed to displaying the work of the talented artists of the local area in what is a truly unusual venue. The exhibitions are selected by an independent panel and curated by local artist, Susan Kinneally, to ensure the development of strong ongoing community involvement and visitors to the town.
